How do you do stadium hops?

After missing EZ8 on Wednesday(my favorite day, hill day) because I was ill, I was back on track for my last EZ8 before the Capitol Hill Classic 3K. Today we did a mini fartlek with stairs. We would run up the stairs at the National Gallery of Art one at a time, then two at a time and finally hopping for a total of 6 times up the stairs.

CHALLENGE for SW's

Everytime you see an escalator and stairs...opt for the stairs.

If there are no stairs -- walk up the escalator.  Nothing more maddening than standing behind a lazy person who stands there as the escalator takes him/her up.  We have legs - let's use 'em!!!

Join the Social Workout Climb to the Top Team

By late February you're going to need to shake up your winter workout routine. And a skyscraper stair climb definitely counts as a shakeup. Sign up for the Social Workout Climb to the Top team, and on Sunday, February 28, you can take the stairs all the way to the top of Rockefeller Center. That's 66 flights, fyi. 

Climb to the Top is a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. It's $50 to join the team ($40 if you use the case sensitive discount code EDM2). If climbing to the top of the Rockefeller building sounds bad, but supporting MS sounds good, you could also just donate. We have a team thanks the valiant efforts of @herenow. Now that he's done the heavy lifting of registering us, he'd love someone else to take over as team captain. So sign up! Be captain! MS and a good workout are both good causes! Avert Death With Stairs, Clint Eastwood Likes Yoga

  • A recent study showed people who climb 55 flights of stairs a week (or more) have a 33% lower chance of death. Our "Climb Higher" Emergency Holiday Challenge Feat could save your life!
  • Lincoln University, an historically black university in Pennsylvania, wants to address obesity and diabetes in the black community, so they're requiring all students with Body Mass Indexes over 30 to take a fitness course.
  • An artificial sweetener, oligofructose, has been shown to reduce blood pressure and may also help lower cholesterol. So you can keep eating all that salt and red meat as long as you sprinkle every bite with oligofructose.

Boy my arms are tired.

Worked out again with C this morning and he really put me through the paces. We focused on arms and chest today so there were a lot of presses, curls, pull ups and push ups. He even had me running the stairs in between.

We did my two week weigh-in and I've lost 3.5 lbs. Not too bad.
