Then working on the 20 pull up challenge.  Is it a really bad sign that I can barely even do the negative pull-ups in week -2?  I've been working on the pull-up machine with a 30 lb counter weight.  Kinda frustrating to have to start there, but I'm determined to make it to 20 pullups.  Even if it takes me til the end of the year.

Chelsea and Bill Spin For $100K

How much do people love spinning? Or maybe the better question is, how much do people who love spinning love the Clintons? So much that Soul Cycle's hour long ride with Bill and Chelsea this weekend raised more than a $100,000 for the Clinton Foundation Haiti Fund. Very nice. And also intriguing. I've developed a theory: I think it has something to do with spandex. Spandex is not a conservative fabric. The more spandex you wear, the more liberal you are. Spinning and its full body spandex...you do the math.

Ride With Chelsea and Bill This Saturday

Soul Cycle's Ride for Haiti event this Saturday still has a few bikes left. The details:

Ryan rekindled my love for spinning!

I took Ryan Murray's spin class on Monday, it was FANTASTIC.. challenging, great playlist... and I just love how he motivates everyone. I was going so fast, during the sprints, I could not believe that I was doing 145 RPM, he had us sprint for 30 secs, I think.. and i was able to do it...  He is also very helpful and compassionate. He gets off the bike to help folks..

I had a sneaking suspicion this would be true...

Today is day 1 of the 20 pull-up challenge.  First step is obviously assessing how many pull-ups you can do.  I haven't even attempted a pull-up since middle school, and I couldn't do any then, so I figured I'd still be at zero.  I was absolutely correct.  That puts me in the elite group who gets to start at week -2 as opposed to week 1!  Anyways, week -2 basically just

crappy weekend i will leave you in the dust

Well it wasn't a completely horrible weekend, but there's a lot of crap going on and it felt so great to workout and just forget about everything else for awhile.  I lifted for 20 min, 45 min spin, and a 25 min core class.  It was super intense but I loved it.  Good way to start the week.

i want sookie's abs

Very fun busy weekend.  I had a friend's engagment party in Jersey on sat and friends in town all weekend.  There was lots of food and drinking involved.  It felt so great to be back in the gym today.  I lifted, went to spinning and an abs class.  Does anyone else watch True Blood?  Sookie is seriously my body motivation at the moment.  She is slamming!

Tales From An Exercise Binge

I exercise, and I do it a lot. I am not one of those people who exercises to “de-stress.” Screw de-stressing, I want my workouts to have meaning, a purpose, they're part of a grand scheme that culminates in me one day standing somewhere, wearing spandex and winning an award. 

So I exercise for goals — fitness goals, personal record goals, and more oft than I’d like to admit, skinny jeans goals. But this all changed for me in the last few weeks.

spin and core

Had a sub in spin yesterday.  I've had her before and she's really great, but completely technologically challenged.  Literally every time I've taken her class, she's either broken her ipod, her headset, the cord, something.  Her class is a real ass kicker though so it's ok.  After was core, also good.  Not as fun as my regular teacher's class, but we did lots of planks
