Bust a Gut with Body by Bethenny by Kristin

I’m going to swallow my snarky, self-righteous pride right here and say that I loved Body by Bethenny, the exercise DVD via Kristin McGee and Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel. I literally laughed out loud, and not in the LOL sense, but in the "there was audible noise coming from my mouth with the slight twinge of merriment at multiple points during said exercise experience" sense. "Boob-to-Knee Pose" and "Darth Vader breathing" have never felt so good.

5 Minutes of Yoga for Digestive Bliss

In which Million Minute Month Spirit Guide Kristin McGee explores the cleansing, detoxing wonders of twists.

Mloggers, I applaud you! All that good sweat is releasing toxins from your body, which should be making you feel great. In yoga, one of the best ways to aid in the detox process is to do a seated spinal twist. Twists are like wringing out a dirty dish rag. You'll feel lighter, cleaner and you'll tone your love handles in the process. Here's exactly how to get started.

My Two Weeks With YogaEarth, Supplement to the Stars

Nutritional supplements aren't generally my bag. Usually, I steer clear of them because I don't understand the ingredients, and I'm not sure I want to look like Macho Man Randy Savage. I decided, however, to take the plunge with YogaEarth, a supplement for, you guessed it, yogis. The good folks at YogaEarth make a fairly big todo about the fact that their products are organic, holistic, and made from fantabulous ingredients. And they're backed by some pretty well-to-do Yogis like Sara Ivanhoe, Kristin McGee, and Elena Brower. I own their DVDs! So I was actually pretty psyched to add these suckers to my practice. Here's the lowdown.

Kristin McGee on the Doors That Open When You Do What You Love

Kristin McGee is the star of MTV Yoga, MTV Pilates, Kristin McGee's Power Yoga, Pilates for Beginners and a number other fitness DVDs.

I discovered yoga when I was at NYU getting my BFA in theater, and I just fell in love. It felt like I’d always been doing it. I did my teacher training at Om Yoga and started teaching at Crunch and some of the different gyms. A lot of people would talk about Pilates, and people would ask me to sub Pilates — partly because there's a similar mind/body connection with yoga — so I decided I had to find out what it was all about. I did my Pilates training with Kelly Kane. And then in 2002, I was teaching at a Crunch in Times Square, and an MTV producer just happend to be taking my class, and she asked if I would do a DVD.

It was so exciting. Yoga comes very naturally to me, and because I had my theater background, none of the camera stuff scared me at all. If I could make DVDs full-time, I would love it. Although, I still love the acting. I just filmed a part for the March 25th episode of 30 Rock. I play Floyd's new love interest...

Pilates in the Home

Meet Kristin McGee, a tall blonde beauty of a Pilates instructor whom I really wanted to hate for all those reasons, but who turns out to be kind of stellar. Her exercise video is called Pilates for Beginners -- more or less like every other Pilates video on the market -- but it's one of the best I've ever taken. And I've taken hundreds. This is Pilates "mat," (no machines required), and McGee eases you into each position step-by-step, until miraculously you find yourself perfectly aligned, mid-routine. My one gripe about McGee is that she's a bit light on the breathing cues. Breathing is key to Pilates, as in yoga, but save for one section, McGee glosses over the breathing instructions. Still, if you’re new to Pilates, and want to experment in the safety of your home, (fantasizing privately about the lean ballerina you will someday be), McGee is a wonderful teacher with whom to start.
