up and down, a hill that is...
so i just ran up and down a hill by my house because i just got home from a late gig and needed to move my body. it was kind of fun and a nice challenge. 27 minutes of huffin' and puffin'. i also ran around the block. I'm trying to incorporate a little more jogging in my walks because walking is getting to be too easy for me now.

I hiked the rambles with the dog and a friend....friend 1 went home b/c she didn't feel well but friend 2 met me - we did the rambles several times, then did the hills in the Park, walked down to Whole Foods, grocery shopped, walked all the way back home, ate and went back out for an hour with the dog, up some hills....

Monday morning hill run
So I'm into week three of my half marathon training plan, and I am loving my training schedule. Every Monday morning is a short run, just three miles, but it's a hill run, and the hills get increasingly more difficult every week. I'm not to the point where it's excruciatingly hard yet, but it's definitely tough enough for a Monday morning.

How did that happen?! I have no idea. When I woke up this morning and realized I was a half an hour behind, I had two choices and I needed to make a split second decision: skip the workout and just get ready for work or BOOK IT to the gym STAT. I booked it to the gym.

Christmas Eve Run Thru the Brambles (and housing developments)
Liz and I got up on Christmas Eve and put on our warmest workout clothes to go for a run. We're visiting out family in the suburbs of Seattle, so set out with iPhone GPS in hand and aimed for 3 miles. We ran down the hill and through a new housing development and found a park with a trail--- full of blackberry brambles and hidden puddles. We ran some more, in and out and final

SW-e-AT Quads: to the point
15 mins on stationary bike (level 10, apline trail program), 3 sets of 15 olympic squats on bosu with 18-lb body bar, 7 mins treadmill (speed 6.0, hill program, level 10), 3 sets of 15 olympic squats, 4 mins bike, 3 sets of squats, 8 mins treadmill. 3 mins cooldown, then stretching. All quads all the time.

Up in the Hills
The great thing about living in Blenheim (NZ) is that the great outdoors is never very far away. On Saturday after a pretty lazy morning, I went for a 40 minute walk in the Wither Hills farm park. 20 minutes up, 20 minutes down. Great for stretching out the hammies after yoga on Thursday! Not the longest walk in the world but hard work into the wind!

Hills, hills, birthday hills!
Today is my birthday. As a present, Seattle gave me a big blue sky and perfect warm sunshine. Thanks Seattle! To make sure I got this beautiful day off on the right foot, I started out with a yummy latte with my beau and then went out on a 4.5 mile run. The theme? Hill work out. The result? 1,029 feet elevation gain.

Hiking San Francisco
The original plan for yesterday had been for a long bike ride with some good hills (both up and down), but after staying up until 4am drinking champagne, there was no way we were crawling out of be until 1pm. So, ride scratched with a slightly twitchy boy and girl needing to so something other than sit in the house.

Feets 02 (Timed Hill Run)
OK. So today I woke up really early, 5am (possible feet in progress.). Not by design. Frikkin cats at my folks house looking for food. Got up and did warm up of 3 sets each 15 push ups, 15 sit ups 15 air squats and 45 second side bridges. Then went out for same hill run i did yesterday, 3.6 miles, only I pushed it with intervals. Todays run time 30:15.
