Electricity Generating Bikes Hit New York Sports Club
Remember when we told you the University of Oregon was hooking their energy-generating ellipticals up to the power grid? The trend has now hit NYC. Hop on certain spin bikes at the New York Sports Club at 23rd and 8th, and you can pedal up some electric power. You won't be powering the entire club with your feet anytime soon — four packed spin classes a day every day for a month only generates 300 kilowatts, about half of what a typical home uses in a year — but NYSC staff report that people are way into it: "All my members want to come back to see how many watts they create," says one manager.

It's Friday on the strange sub-tropical island that is Manhattan these days, and we've got dance on our mind. Fitness Fixation is to blame for posting a lovely pas de deux video this morning, which made us hungry for more, which reminded us that Pilobolus is at the Joyce Theater just now for their annual run (until August 8th). This, in turn, prompted a Pilobolus video search, which surfaced the following, (which is ancient, but maybe you've never seen it either), and which is now, officially, our favorite car advertisement of all time....
