Dr. Oz is launching a new campaign called "Just 10," aimed at getting people to start by losing just 10 pounds. As part of his get fit message, he's talking all about his personal fitness regimen. Which mostly sounds nice, with a few elements of nuts sprinkled in. Items of note:
- He weighs 178, and weighs himself everyday just to make sure. (Weighing daily? Officially nuts).
- Every morning he does a quick ten minute routine of yoga, pushups and situps. (Not nuts).
- For breakfast he eats steel cut oatmeal with flaxseed oil, blueberries and walnuts. (Nuts are literally involved).
"Gaga just walked into my yoga studio. She comes in with a huge bodyguard. Strips down to her bra and panties in the locker room TWO FEET away from me, and then disappears into a blocked off studio for a private lesson. So crazy. Then ... After class she is chillin', still in only bra/panties in the lounge area. So perfect. Only Lady Gaga does that."
— alleged Facebook posting from a woman who allegedly works at a yoga studio in Minneapolis where Lady Gaga allegedly did some yoga while on tour yesterday.
"I was trying to remember the importance of everything and to keep breathing... I want to remember everything I study, to keep up with my meditations and prayers..."
“Tom has put himself on a strict fitness routine and diet, which includes daily three-hour workouts and a low-carb meal plan consisting of 1,200-1,300 calories per day.”
— In Touch Weekly, describing Tom Cruise's (alleged) regimen in preparation for Mission Impossible 4.
"I'm not all about toughness. It's about staying healthy, and doing what's best for my body....In nine years, the worst I've done is broke my hand my rookie year...That's a testament to my regimen...With a packed class, you can't move, can't breathe, so it allows you to focus. When you get in those awkward positions in the piles, someone has you twisted up, you're less likely to get hurt."
— Texans linebacker Kevin Bentley, discussing his three-times-a-week Bikram yoga practice.
At Chelsea Clinton's big fat vegan wedding last weekend, a few concessions were made to meat eaters, namely some grass fed organic beef on the menu. Bill was all over that, right? Apparently, not so much. Who knows how long it will last, but People reports that, at Chelsea's prompting, Bill nixed all meat and dairy and lost twenty pounds before the wedding. (via MindBodyGreen)
"I'm like, wow! This is what I look like? ....I don't want to lose any more weight, and you're never going to see me skinny. I think this is a good, natural size for me."
— Jennifer Hudson, making me all happy for her while telling InStyle how psyched she is to have gone from size 16 to size 6 with the help of Weight Watchers and regular workouts.
Last we checked in with JWoww, she was wearing a not-exactly-supportive tube top on a treadmill in Miami. Now, the application form she filled out back when she was auditioning for "Jersey Shore" has made it to the web. New revelations: JWoww does yoga. Or wait, let's let her say it in her own words:
- Q: "Do you have any other jobs/hobbies?"
- A: "Yoga, movies, owning two businesses, bartending at cigar lounge, I run s**t."
Also of note should you ever hope to be cast in a reality TV Show, two telling bullet points from the producer's comments: "Cut off BF [Boyfriend's] fingers with a sword" followed immediately by "A+" (via Yoga Dork)
"I became a vegan... I wanted a different life. I felt like I was dying. I had an incident in life where I lost my 4 year old daughter in a tragic accident at home. I don't know. I didn't want to live anymore. So I said, that in order to go there, I had to change my life. I am going to change everything I dislike about myself. I changed everything that I was as a human being. I started that journey in October or November. … I don't smoke anymore. I wanted to give up everything. I had to change my life. I didn't have a problem with drugs or nothing. I had a problem with thinking. My thinking was broken. That was the solution of my broken thinking using drugs and living crazy."
"I like being skinny. I was sick of being fat on the camera. Really, I just got sick of it. Once I started losing weight, again, like once I started dropping a couple pant sizes, then it was easy 'cause once you see the results, then you don't wanna stop....No carbs...I don't drink anything but water...and lots of cardio. About 45 minutes of cardio, at least 45 minutes of cardio. I've been kind of lazy like lately, so I'm not doing it 6 days a week, but I will be for this next month."
— Drew Carey, who has lost 80 pounds since January and is aiming to lose 10 more.
