Tara Stiles Is The New Tracy Anderson

Tara Stiles, as we've noted before, is a new kind of yogi, all slick and modern with not even the faintest whiff of patchouli about her. We've also noted that she's really, really skinny. And this week, she's out with her new book Slim, Calm, Sexy, which promises to make you skinny too. Yoga Dork aptly notices the 3-word title just so happens to be "downsized and palatable enough for women’s magazine splash ads, and 3-minute morning show bits." All the slickness isn't necessarily bad, but it's certainly a long way from Bhagavan Das. That said, without having read the book, I nonetheless have two GIANT complaints (one of which has to do with the cover above):

1. The book's website features this quote on the homepage: "I lost 35 pounds and went from a size 8 to a size double zero!" Uh? What?! I want to find this women, hug her, and direct her to a good therapist, not buy the book so I can also disappear my body.
2. The cover looks exactly like Tracy Anderson's book (not as bad as the duplicate Men's Health covers, but close). I really liked pink and purple...when I was 9. Not that I don't still like them sometimes, just sayin'. It's like a bunch of Don Drapers sat down in a room together and said "Women are simple. If it's pink and purple, they'll buy it for sure." 

Now that I'm taking a close look at the Tracy Anderson tagline — "The Weight-Loss Kick-Start That Makes Perfection Possible" — I'm thinking maybe Tara Stiles doesn't look so bad. At least the word "mind" appears somewhere on her cover..
