Aerial shows and some semi-relevant history I feel like sharing

Ian Lassiter <3 <3

Let's take it back to early 2007. It was a chilly winter night and a friend of mine, who'd just begun dating a guy in a comedy troupe, dragged me to the Cherrry Lane Theatre to see one of their shows. Thus began my love affair with the hilarious, raunchy and often nude men of FUCT NYC, and most especially, one Ian Sinclair Lassiter. During the show, Ian revealed that his pubic hair was shaved into the shape of a heart. How could I not immediately love him? After the show, I invited my new friend Sassletic to the after party at the Barrow Street Pub, where we embarked on a memorable escapade that cemented the deep and abiding love known to you folks as von Sass.

Last year, Ian Lassiter, whom in the ensuing years I have loved mostly from afar but sometimes from very up close, invited me to a new FUCT show at the House of Yes which was to feature some very cool bendy women known as the Lady Circus.  That night, I blended my drinks via bicycle and seriously coveted the aerial skills of the lady performers. A few months later, Sass and I tried our first aerial class at the House of Yes.

The whole point of this unimportant story is that Sass and I are going to see two aerial shows this weekend, and you're invited.

The first is the House of Yes's monthly aerial variety show, Friday night at 8pm, which got a nice write-up on the Times' blog. This time, they're being filmed for TV, so you have to look nice. Tickets and info on the bottom of this page.

Second, Ian Lassiter is emceeing a different aerial show in the East Village, and I'm seeing it on Saturday night at 8pm. It looks very sexy - like Chicago meets aerials. Tickets and info here.

I was thinking of you today. I was at Santa Monica Pier and they have a Trapeze School there. (It's a branch of the one in NYC) I was reading the brochure, and it says they have aerial silk classes too. Check out their website: trapezeschool.com
