Your Fingerprint Gets You Into the Gym

24-Hour Fitness has launched a new card-less entry system at some of their California locations and plans to expand it to all 400+ locations around the country in the near future. Instead of your gym-issued ID card, the gym will now scan your fingerprints. Kind of cool. And kind of freaky! All those concerned about the Big Brother/CIA/KGB/DNA mega-plex of horror (which maybe includes me), if you really insist you'll be able to refuse finger print scanning and show a photo ID instead. Still, this seems like the start of something big. Finger print scanning at the gym leads to print scanning at the grocery store and the bank...and I should really stop now before I start sounding crazy.

They're using fingerprint scanners at the Equinox on 19th & Broadway. It kinda weirded me out, too.
