Running...Hunting

“Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a Lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle... when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”

This is my favorite saying about running. 

At the relay yesterday I was the lion.  I would see a runner in the distance figure out their pace in slow controlled bursts of speed I would catch them a few steps at a time.  When I got close I would spend time silently stalking them.  And when I was ready I would switch to my controlled sprint and pass them.  I would create some distance and then go to my regular running speed til I saw my next prey in the distance.
