Maya's Yoga Pants Make Her Butt Look Like It's Propped Up On A Platter

Every day, we give you a snapshot of one fellow striver in fitness. We ask personal questions, he or she boldly answers. Today's snapshot: Maya, aka maya622.

  • What's your number one workout spot? It's a tie between CorePower Yoga and David Barton Chicago
  • What's your secret (fitness-related) sin? This is kinda gross. I hate washing my clothes after every workout. It seems like such a waste, so I hang my yogitoes towel, sweaty pants and sports bra and try to get two-three wears between washes. Sometimes I have no right doing this, and my boyfriend is always quick to let me know that I'm foul. 
  • What do you wear to the gym? Being a freelance health and fitness writer, I've been lucky enough to get hooked up with some pretty nice workout gear and apparel, so I think I have pretty good gym/yoga style. I love Lululemon. I totally drink the Lululemon cult Kool-Aid. Anything that makes my butt look like it's propped up on a platter and wicks away sweat is great! 
  • What's the best thing in your gym bag? My gym bag is pretty standard, so I'd say the best thing is my shower flip flops because I shower at the gym and yoga studio more than I do at home. On special days the best thing in my bag is a Prana Apricot Pumpkin Bar
  • What's the healthiest thing you eat? I eat pretty healthy. I haven't had meat or fish in over 10 years, and I'm a soy-free vegan. I love superfood smoothies (shout out to Spicy Yogini) with lots of green powder (my fav right now is SunWarrior Ormus Greens), maca and msm for recovery and raw hemp protein.  
  • What's your go-to workout? Ah, another tie. I definitely have a yin/yang approach to my workouts, so it's a tie between hot vinyasa C2 classes at CorePower Yoga and Rope Burn (45 minutes of jumping rope) at David Barton! 
  • What would you do (fitness wise) if you had all the time/ability in the world? Without a doubt, weekly private Pilates reformer/equipment classes and yoga classes. 
  • What are you just never going to try? I'll try any workout or activity once, but I can't get down with eating animals!
  • What superhero (real life or fictional) most inspires you? Ha! This is totally cheesy, and she's not even a superhero, but I loved Neytiri in Avatar! She was a badass warrior princess who talked about caring for the planet and there was even a scene where she shows ol' boy (Sam Worthington) to use his core to properly shoot arrows. Paint me blue and throw some beads and feathers in my hair because that's me to a T!

YeahRedGymnast- Rope Burn isn't 45 minutes of straight jumping rope, he throws in burpies, mountain climbers and squats for "rest!" Ha!
