One Thousand Thousand Minutes

The Million Minute Month is On!

We've hinted at it, and we've invited you to join. We've rounded up extrordinary Spirit Guides, and we've begun the countdown. BUT, just FYI, we haven't OFFICIALLY announced the Million Minute Month, until right now:

Attention world! The Million Minute Month is on.

Wherein the Social Workout community challenges America — not to mention large parts of Europe, Asia, and all hemispheres — to exercise for one million minutes, from April 15th and May 15th. Can we do it, you wonder, and how much exactly is one million?

One million comes from the Italian milione meaning "large thousand." To give you some sense: One million honeybees weighs just about the same as a tall, skinny fitness blogger. Also, there are roughly a million granules of sugar in a quarter of a cup. One million minutes of exercise is glorious, meaningless, and potentially life-altering goal. It's a metaphorical spaceship, a crusade. And, whatever else it is, it's entirely do-able. Many hands makes light work!

Velcro on your sneaks, grab several hundred friends, and get on the bus. We will count our minutes together, arm-in-arm. We will go on a collective endorphin trip. One thousand thousand or bust!

I'm hoping to rack up the most minutes in Intramural Sports and Vigorous Sex.  By playing volleyball, of course...

I am totally pissed that this didn't start April 1, because I have already gotten in about 15 hours of hiking this month and I want it to count! :P

100Pounds, I am so with you.  I've clocked more minutes of working out this week than I have in any week so far this year.  Fingers crossed, I'll keep it up!

Yeah. My first triathlon ever is on Sunday. And it won't count! Whatever. Onward and upward! Wondering if filing taxes count...

33,333 minutes of exercise a day?  Can I quit my job too and have you guys pay me instead?

All jokes aside, I plan to push it to meet this goal as much as I possibly can.  I wonder what counts, exactly.  Would I be able to count my walk to and from work?  Because I speed-walk since I am almost always late and I work up a bit of a sweat.  not cute, but will it count for the challenge???

Whew.  For a second  thought I was going to have to work out for a million minutes alone.  Glad it's collective. . .
