Day 24: Club of 13

Feralizers and passing visitors, please let me introduce you to the Club of 13. You've got emahlee, hivemind8, loreniiiita, and oscarwild10. What's the significance? With seven days left in the Feralicious Challenge, these are the challengers who, having valiantly posted 13 workouts to date, still have a mathematical shot at nailing the 20 workout target for the General Exercise feat. From here on in, every day counts for the Club of 13. Who's got their back?

Now check this out: We're about to make the Club of 13 much bigger. This weekend is hereby declared THE BIG FERAL TWOFER! That is, everything a challenger does this weekend — from Friday through Sunday — counts double. Do a set of pullups, COUNT IT TWICE! Eat feral? DITTO. Workout once, you get TWO WORKOUT CREDITS. Get the picture? Effectively, this means that if completion was just out of reach, you might be right back in the game. Hear that everyone in the Clubs of 10, 11, and 12?

Who's going to finish what they started?

Comments

I love you guys.  I just traded 510 pushups for 255.  I might just cross the finish line yet.  Now what if I manage half a pullup?  ;)

Bravo, but just to be clear: a.) we do love you, and b.) THE BIG TWOFER weekend starts tomorrow, and it only counts for stuff you do over the weekend. So, if you do 255 pusups over the weekend, you get to count them twice. YES, we're pushovers, and YES you badass types at the top of the leaderboard should double your counts too, just so we can all compare apples to apples....

SPANK IT youz guyz.

Does double count for minutes of sprints?  Cause that is turning out to be my potential deal-breaker . . .

Awesome! This definitely spices things up... But I echo joesgirl, what if we can manage HALF a pull up by this weekend?! Because while I might be nowhere near a whole pull up, I am like two inches away from half of one!

Joesgirl & Shaynet, thank you, thank you, thank you, for pointing that out. I don't think I would have thought of it. Brilliant! Now I just need to find a pull-up bar while I'm out o town this wknd.

I am totally doing my sprints this weekend. Yup.

WOO HOO! I now have a shot of actually finishing this thing!

hooray for half a pullup!

wait, the half-pull up thing is serious? if it's done by the end of the weekend it counts as done?

half pull ups and dips- sweet jesus! we are resurrected soon!

I think with pull-ups and dips, we should have been counting attempted sets and sets of assisted exercises this whole time.  I'd just keep up with that scheme.

oliver, do we enter the number we did & it automatically doubles or do we enter the doubled number?

msh258's picture

msh258: enter the doubled number. the input form will simply add new entries to past ones. if it feels better, you can enter the actual number twice, or count up by ones....

prairiep.: you make a good point, and let me clarify for the half-pull up crew. We're all working on doing 20 sets of our baseline.  thus, if you do one set of your 20 pullup baseline (!), you can count that as TWO sets from Friday to Sunday. if your baseline is zero, however, the idea is that you would count each practice session as a "set," even if it only involves hanging from the bar, or getting half way up. That said, zero baseliners who actually do complete a whole pullup for the first time, get to proceed past go, collect $200, and enter "20" in the feat counter box. Doing a HALF PULLUP however, and counting it as a full pullup, and not doing your 20 practice sessions, is not kosher. People who take this approach should apply immediately for jobs teaching semantics at a midwestern university.

OMG so I can hit "feat accompli" on the pull-up?!?!?! awesome!!!

hmm i had counted myself out for 20 workouts but this might motivate me to stay in the game :) woohoo!

More confusion. I wasn't aware of these practice sessions. I just counted & it looks like I have 13 (I "practiced" on each gym visit), not including the one I did today (along w/ my set of 3 demi-chin-ups). So can we count our practice sessions as two this wknd in the mad push for 20, or is that getting too midwestern (thank you for the vote of confidence for our country's heartland)?

My DIY feral challenge is to count all these different things with my fingers and toes - and not with a calculator!
