Sixty Minutes Of Exercise a Day, For Life

Swimmer (via Gabyu)

"If you want to exercise for weight control, it's 60 minutes a day...It's a large amount of activity. If you're not willing to do a high amount of activity, you need to curtail your calories a lot."

—Dr. I-Min Lee, lead author of a new study that says women should exercise 60 minutes, every day, if they want to maintain their weight over their lifetime, without dieting.

I've see a lot of people in a huff over this (ahem, http://jezebel.com/5500912/latest-in-unrealistic-exercise-recommendation...) but honestly, if you want to not diet you have do something to account for extra calories coming in and that's more calories going out. You don't have to run a marathon every day but you have to be physically active. How people don't understand this amazes me....

right. note "activity" here includes a "brisk walk" and the average age of the study was, what, 54?

honestly, you don't lose weight if you don't diet anyway, who are the proverbial you kidding?

hahaha, check out the comments below the jezebel article. here's the best:

"I don't work out because I like it, or because I want to be the prettiest pony in the gym. I work out because I will inevitably be attacked by ninjas, and I will have to defend myself. Or because when my super-hot crush needs to be pulled from a flaming wreck, I will be able to do so and will emerge a heroine, and he will realize I am his dream woman."

MissMollyKate, I don't know who you are, but I sure as hell think you're effing awesome!!!

Ha, those are some pretty compelling reasons to be in shape.

But seriously, when the zombie revolution comes, we're all going to hope we're in good enough shape to stay on the living side of the equation.
