want dessert so good it'll make you cry?

- THE dessert.
In which this week's "Featured Body," msh258, eats really, really well.
This post is now a bit overdue -- but it must be done! I had another absolutely amazing meal thanks to killercadoogan. We went to BLT Prime and making use of his special Crunch magic (uhm...or the fact that the manager of BLT Prime is a Crunch member), we got reservations to the super-special anniversary celebration they were having (at absurdly low prices, I might add). Believe me when I say: I love me some steak. I mean, lately I've gotten into the pattern of starting my days with steak and a smoothie (OMG...can I just say again: I LOVE being paleo). But, especially after the unbelievable meal we had at BLT Market, I knew that this would be an amazing treat. Oh boy was I right!
Not two minutes after we were seated, the manager already sent over a platter of charcuterie, home-made pickles and pate to try along with their famous pop-overs and delicious butter. OMG! It 's funny how such a simply thing as bread and butter has now become so special, since I don't really eat it anymore. In that way, going paleo has actually helped me enjoy my food more again...things that used to be a staple can now excite my taste buds again. I love it!
Anyways, for appetizer we had the crab cake with lemon and radish salad and the tuna tartar with avocado and soy-lime dressing. Both were fantastic...but to be honest, killercadoogan won that round with the tuna tartare. It was absolutely divine! The tuna just melted in your mouth, the avocado was perfectly creamy, and the dressing was so delicate that it simply enhanced the flavor of the fish without overpowering it.
For the entree we went a little crazy...since the prices were so unbelievable and we figured we should try as much as we can. So, we ordered the strip-loin for two which was served with an herb butter on top. As side dishes we had potato skins, grilled asparagus, roasted tomatoes and stuffed mushroom caps. Every dish complemented the others wonderfully. We managed to eat about half of everything we ordered, since there was no way we were going to leave there without dessert!
Killercadoogan ordered the caramelized NY cheesecake with citrus soup and I had the peanut butter chocolate mousse with banana ice cream. We were also sent these small, warm gooey brownie bites and two glasses of dessert wine by the manage! I love killercadoogan's Crunch magic! Now, while killercadoogan may have won the appetizer round, I hands-down won the dessert round. Don't get me wrong...that cheesecake was fantastic...but, I took a bite of the peanut butter chocolate mousse and, for the first time in my life, I had such a visceral reaction to what I was eating, that I actually had tears in my eyes. Yes, I agree...this makes me sound like a crazy person...I can't explain it either! The dessert was so damn good, I was just about to cry. Insanity.
In short, if you're looking to impress someone, want to eat some serious meat, and perhaps even have a transcendental dessert experience: go to BLT Prime.

This is why we're friends. Other then working out, I feel the need to constantly tell people all about every meal I eat. You're descriptions made my palate dance.
