possibly! i find that even when i input my weight and age perfectly, each elliptical machine reports calories differently. 60 minutes at a moderate to fast speed for me (130 pounds, age 31) can get me between 400 and 700 calories depending on the type of elliptical machine i choose. probably best to get a heart rate monitor instead of relying on the machine to count.
I also get different calorie counts from different elliptical machines which made me suspicious and I ran into an article a while ago saying that machines are notorious for over-counting calories. Which makes me sad when I see big numbers on the screen :(
But I'm sure the calories burnt number is pretty close to the real number burned.
