I *love* a challenge

So. The love challenge. Oof. This sounds harder in some ways than the idea of waking up every morning at 6am and getting to spin class four times a week. Not that I've ever done either of those things. But that's not the point!

Embracing the idea of love in any form isn't exactly easy. It's just so much more comfortable to put on a black sweater, settle in with a dog-eared copy of "The Anatomy of Melancholy" and cozy up to the bitter when your most promising options are cab drivers who ask if you have a boyfriend, a sad and strange list of online "matches" (dear dating site: I don't care if we both enjoy the outdoors and are non-smokers. He's wearing an Ed Hardy shirt and a glow stick), and half-hearted pursuers who change their minds and covertly decide to spend Valentine's day with your bff. Not that that happened.

Needless to say, I would like some positive energy in my life right about now. Not from someone else, but from myself. And anway, romantic love isn't the only sort of love out there, as evidenced by this past V-day—one of the best yet—which involved good friends, bad television and fantastic amounts of chocolate.

So from now on (or at least for the next five days) I'm deciding to love each day of my life (or at least to find something to love about each day of my life). And if that means I have to force it upon myself by, say, adding a splash of red wine, a dash of confectioner's sugar and a heavy dose of French cinema to my daily routine, I think I can live with that.
