The Italian Kinesis Machine: Home Gym as Art

Technogym Kinesis Machine (via technogym)

Mixing small living spaces and home gym equipment is widely known to be a serious mistake. Exhibit A: Nordic Ed. If it can be done, however, it will be done by an Italian designer. Exhibit B: Technogym, headquartered in Cesena, Italy, has started making wall-art kinesis machines. These sleek, weighted-cable resistance contraptions look swank in Milan living rooms, and might even work, in mirrored version, at the foot of your bed. Most surprising, the machines get respect from fitness pros for their production quality and the fact that they provide continuous resistance in all directions. We expect the price is prohibitive (quotes only on demand), but worth dreaming about when you actually invest in your dumbbells and a step setup.

I tried to use one of these at a hotel gym a few years back. They're definitely great looking.  I had a hard time getting it to work, but I'm sure with a few instructions it could work.  But is it that much cooler, and that much of a better workout, than a TRX?  Doubtful.
