SoulCylce Defector Launches New Spin Studio with Tiki Barber

- Flywheel Sports!
Spin junkies alert: There's a new kid on the block. Ruth Zukerman, onetime SoulCycle star, is set to open Flywheel Sports this February. We hear SoulCycle dumped Zukerman when they caught wind of her plans, and now there's a schism in spin-land: "Katie Couric and film producer Jane Rosenthal will go with Zukerman, but the fate of other regulars, like Brooke Shields, Kyra Sedgwick and Chelsea Clinton, remains up in the air," reports The Post. Our sources say Zukerman is the bomb. "She puts Christie Brinkley in the normal category," one reader emails. "50, and a health/role model for women." In an unexpected twist, Zukerman's partner in the new venture is former New York Giants All Star running back Tiki Barber. Whether Barber will actually be teaching, or is simply there as symbolic draw for middle-aged male football fans remains to be seen. The new studio will be located at 39 W. 21st, (with an Upper East Side location soon to follow), and — intriguingly — will include the "Torqboard," an in-studio display which allows riders to track their performance in class, to see how they're doing against everyone else. (Doh! We said it was coming, but who knew it would be here this fast!) How much to join? Zukerman has offered special deals to founding members, who will be given "Superfly" status: $325 for unlimited monthly classes. Ouch. If they can get that much from Katie Couric, et. al, more power to them....
