Top 5 Fitness DVDs from a Self-Proclaimed Home Workout Junkie

DVD Shelf

They say admitting it is the first step to recovery. I'm Kim, and I'm addicted to exercise DVDs. Yeah, there are four more shelves just like those two. But let's say, theoretically, I had to whittle my collection down to five. These are the five I absolutely couldn't live without:

  1. Element Pilates Weight Loss for Beginners: This is my absolute favorite of all time DVDs.  This DVD mimics a real life mat class, but a really, really good mat class where you feel completely worked from head to toe, and you finish feeling dewy and beautiful.
  2. The Firm: This isn't really one video, it's more like a franchise.  Any one you pick: Fanny Lifter, Firm Box (hehehe), TransFirmer... these southern belles will kick your ass with solid strength training and old school thong-over-the-leotard step and low impact aerobics.
  3. Element AM PM Yoga for Beginners: I swear Elena Brower has some crazy trans television telepathy. She corrects you as you go and you're like "How'd she know!"  At one point she says, "Smile a little here," and you do, and your hips are magically more open. Crazy!
  4. 10 Minute Solutions Quick Sculpt Pilates: HARDEST Pilates DVD ever.  It comes with an inflatable ball that will make you want to make out with it and stick it with needles at the same time. You will be sore forever...or for at least a couple of days after.
  5. Crunch Fat Burning Pilates: This is an oldie but a goody by Ellen Barrett.  Most of the DVD is "pilates inspired" cardio, with a short mat section thrown in at the end.  I never feel like I've really worked out if there's not a little cardio thrown in for good measure, this one is a perfect all encompassing workout.

This is just a pretend list. Not pretend favorites, just pretend re: whittling down my collection. In real life I would never actually get rid of any...

Call me an enabler, but I have another way to feed your addiction.

Core Fusion Pilates Plus is amazing.

Netflix, here I come. This is FANTASTIC! Every once in a while I try to check out a new fitness video but have so often been disappointed by an insipid instructor, boring routine, creepy low-rent porno vibe, etc.

Just think of your habit as a public service program.
