Anitak's Treadmill Playlist

A couple of weeks ago, Anitak forgot her headphones. "I felt so deflated that I almost went straight home! Treadmill + no music = ultimate boredom." It was particularly painful because she'd just put together a new high-energy playlist. She made it through, but here's the playlist — download it, and you'll see that it would indeed be rough to be cut off from these tunes. Anitak's full liner notes after the jump.

Getting ready:

  • You, Me And The Bourgeoisie: This is my happy song, for getting into a sunshine mood before working out.

Warmup:

  • We Share Our Mother's Health (Ratatat Remix): Perfect warmup song. Works especially well on the elliptical.

Nice even pace:

  • Ghosts
  • Magic
  • Poster Of A Girl

Picking up the pace:

  • The Geeks Were Right (Album Version): I can't not move to this.
  • Say Aha: Super summery song - imagine yourself looking fabulous on the beach for this one.
  • My Delirium: Imagine yourself looking fabulous in a tight-fitting neon 80's outfit for this one.
  • Feel The Love
  • I Disappear

Really getting into it now:

  • Gold Guns Girls: This song has so much energy, it makes me feel like I can run 10 miles.
  • I'm Not Scared: Getting to the serious workout now.

Bollywood moment: *

  • Chak De! India: This is my number one running song. I can't do without it. I guess it's got that "you can do it!" thing going on.
  • Marjaani Marjaani: Another favourite workout moment. I find myself looking forward to this song coming up all the time.
  • Berang Zindagi
  • Lodi: By now I'm really tired. This starts out fun and upbeat, slows down (for catching your breath!) and ends with a sudden burst of energy.

Almost done:

  • Glittering Clouds (Locusts): This is great for when I'm really exhausted and need inspiration for that last little bit of effort.

Cool down:

  • Where's My Love (Magical Mix): Ahhh. It's the end. I'm walking on a cloud.

* My workouts are useless unless I add these Bollywood tracks. The unfortunate thing is, they make me smile like a cheshire cat and I can hardly keep myself from singing along and throwing my hands in the air like I just don't care. Which makes other people in the gym stare at me.

Comments

I almost died when I saw Lodi... which is not Lordi, Finnish Death Metal band.

The Rockalypse take you all.

(nice list)

I would love to see you (or anyone) in the gym smiling and dancing!

I have the same reaction to my playlist, which makes strangers wonder what my secret is.  Surely someone that red faced and sweaty couldn't really enjoy the treadmill that much??
