NYPD Chief Pumps Iron, Dreams of Child's Pose

Ray Kelly, Commissioner of the New York City Police Department, is the only person in the history of the NYPD to go from cadet to commissioner. He's got smarts and drive, and he's got a serious fitness habit, people. At least four times a week, reports the Wall Street Journal, Commissioner Kelly, 67, hits the treadmill for 30 minutes, and then he pumps iron. What's he bench, you ask? Well, the Chief used to press 300 pounds, but now he says he only puts up 150. When he's not up for the treadmill, Kelly says, he uses "that machine the women use," meaning the Stairmaster. OK, give the guy a break, if the NYPD boss can't be macho, who can be? Also, it seems there's a softer side yearning to break free: "I'd like to do yoga," he says, "but I just don't have time."  Oh, honey! Must get that man into savasana quick, and have deeply-centered yoga teacher administer Eucalyptus oil to his counter-terrorism-addled temples....
